Many other dentists, like you, have asked specific questions before deciding to incorporate implant dentistry into their practice. Before you make your decision, you may have similar questions.
1. Should I get involved in implant dentistry?
Answer: Any dentist who wishes to serve his/her patients with an alternative to removable or fixed prosthesis that makes it easier for the patient to floss and maintain bone height in the previous edentulous area should get involved in implant dentistry.
2. Is it financially rewarding to put implant dentistry into my practice?
Answer: Considering that the average cost per implant to the patient is between $1500-2000, this income can become part of your bottom line.
3. What are the rewards, other than financial, from placing implants in my own patients?
Answer: Having complete control of the prosthetic result from the diagnosis, treatment planning, surgical template, implant placement in correct prosthetic position, and final fixed restoration will have a great personal feeling of satisfaction for the participating dentist and staff.
4. Who will train my staff to help assist me in placing implants?
Answer: Any new procedure that is utilized in the dental practice must have the full support of the staff participation. Staff acceptance will allow for greater patient acceptance. The Midwest Implant Institute is the only American teaching facility that teaches dental staff hands-on training with their doctors.
5. What are the benefits to my staff if they become involved in Implant Dentistry?
Answer: Staff gains self worth by helping their doctor serve patients with a new service that is as beneficial as implant therapy. Staff really enjoys the graduation ceremony at the MII Symposium.
6. Can I learn to place implants as well as the Oral Surgeon and the Periodontist?
Answer: Many residencies in Oral Surgery or Periodontics place fewer than 10 implants. In The Midwest Implant Institute Externship Program a minimum of 14 implants are placed in the Doctor’s patients. Most of the Externs place between 15-20 implants, some with bone grafting procedures, during their Externship Program at MII.
7. Who will help me if I have questions about diagnosis and treatment planning?
Answer: Dr. Rob, Dr. Duke, and/or Vickie are available almost everyday for emergency questions or questions about patients that need immediate answers. X-rays, models, together with suggested treatment is available to anyone who wants help in treatment plans. 614-207-1102
